The little acorns are spinning? There are a few posts here about replacing the studs becasue they are soft.

You seem to be having a nice day though.

we replaced the studs on my nephews 1100GL..Took vice grips and unscrewed them from the casing. Got new ones at Nappa for like 2 bucks each.. Did away with the acorn nuts as well and went to washers and regular nut. Like Jeepster said..very soft threads in acorn nuts..strip easily.

So how can i get this acorn off?

is it the acorn? or the stud threads inside the acorn or the threads inside the block that are stripped?

Put a flat tip screwdriver in between it and the housing and pry out while spinning the nut with a wrench. Whatever is stipped it will begin creeping out.

Give it some good pressure..its already stripped so its gotta get forced outward in some fashion!!

I would think some torque and some threadlocker would be needed.
Some of the posts on this subject say you can get em at some hardware chainstores.

Auto parts..tell them you need exhaust head studs..same thing..Take the old one with you. double nut the stud and put it in till it just bottoms out..Use threadlock. Then loosen the 2 nuts from each other and put in the other studs. Hardware will not have exhaust studs. I know i am saying EXHAUST and its not for the pipes..its what you want though. Locking 2 nuts on the studs allows you to put them in the block with a wrench or socket.. once seated, break the nuts loose of each other and that leaves the stud in the block..get the idea?
