    Hi Beam Indicator

I have a 80 GS1100L built for Canada. The headlite is always on when running. I put a switch in the ground wire to the sealad beam so I could turn off the headlite during the day as I wear heated gloves which draw a lot of power. Now my hi beam indicator is always on. Does it matter? Anyone see any problems with what I have done?

All that you really needed to do, is to grind off the little square peg under your Hi/Lo switch.

The yellow wire to the headlamp and the indicator bulb are tied together. Then the black/white wire for the indicator bulb ground is tied to the other indicator lights.
As you are switching the ground on the headlamp, you may need to rather switch the ground to the indicator lamp at the same time.

Disconnect and bypass the ground to the Hi indicator bulb and run a temporary ground to the headlamp side of the switch you installed.
      Hope this helps.

No, well, other than you dont have a headlight on, but that is not what you are asking.

OPening the ground of the headlight wiring is an effective way to turn off the headlight.
In fact some of the other circuits on the bike operate that way (by switching the ground: horn, oil pressure, sidestand)

But the high beam indicator will still be powered when the hi/low swtich is in the Hi position, and the high beam indicator still has its ground connection there in the instrtument cluster.
I would think the high beam indicator would go out when switch the hi/lo switch is switched to low.
