    wire harness

Is there anyone who attempted to buy a new (NOS) complete wiring harness or build one from scratch ?? mine seems to be near death all the conectors or almost are tarnished and the plastic to cover them is cracked.

I have a 1977 gs 750, I saw one for honda cb's but nothing for my bike.
I am okay to make one from scratch but I dont know where to start

Check this link out from BikeCliffs site. There's a couple of good write ups on harnesses. You can always try the 'parts wanted' section too.

I got two unmolested harnesses..50.00 each plus shipping.. Youll have to take a rag and some soap and water and wash the gunk off it, but they are completed and in great shape.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

The harness is fine unless the wires are baked hard with cracking insulation, or melted more than several inches from the bad connections. Most of us have replaced the bad connectors that create a high contact resistance and burn the connections. All the connectors are available. If wires are melted together in the cable bundles, that is another story.

It's easy enough to make your own and you can do a much better job than they can in the factory. For the first time I'd try and stick pretty closely to the original wiring colours and patterns but if you do a plan beforehand you can use whatever colours you like (the challenge is to make oone using only a single colour.....).

All the bits you need are available (well they are here in the UK) and it shouldn't work out too dear.

Oh, and don't copy the original loom - put it together on the bike (so that everything fits)
