2+3 Coil getting odd reading b/w wires

After working on my project for a while now, I have done a voltage check and have the following problem:

    - Both wires to the coil for 1+4 have a voltage of 9.5
    - one wire to the coil for 2+3 has a voltage of 9.5, and the other coil reads 1.36???

    * I just changed to the Dyna S 3ohm green coils

I don't know where to go from here. I just bought the bike and this is all new to me, but I love the challenge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

The 9.5V is due to dirty conenctions soemwhere between the R/R-Battery "T" and the coils.

"T"=> ignition switch=> fuse box==>start switch==> dirt crimp in the harness at the O/W coil wires.

The 1.3V is on the other side of the coil where teh Dyna is shorting teh coil to get teh current to flow. That is hwo it shoudl be when teh dyna is energizing teh coil. Otehr wise it is open and you will read teh same value on both sides of teh coil.

Either clean all those contacts or do the Coil relay Mod. Prefereably wire it to power the whole ignition circuit form the relay.

Zeke has the exact same issue on his 850 and it causes it to cut out.

(dirt crimp in the harness at the O/W coil wires) <--I think that's it...where's the harness?

As I was fishing around looking for the solution, I found a clump of wires right behind the airbox on the left side (between the battery and airbox on left side) that were covered with a rubber boot. When I moved the boot out of the way, the clump of connectors (that were covered with individual clear plastic covers) were melted and fused together. A few of the connectors inside the plastic covers were burnt.

      A few questions -
      * What caused that?
      * None of the wires were orange/white...would that be my problem or still start with the r/r?
      * The r/r (regular/rectifier?) is that the finned box on the bottom of the battery.
      * My 1+4 coil showed the same readings on both wires, should I be concerned, or is that the way that coil is supposed to operate?
      * Could you send me coil relay mod directions/instructions I'd like to read up and learn more about that.

Thanks for you time...I really appreciate it!
