    Hidden togle switch

    I found a toggle switch in behind the right side of the fairing of my newly aquired GS 1000S. I assume this is not stock, but thought I would ask?

    The bike has not started yet ( not in 10 years actually) so I have not been able to see what it does. My first thought was an an/off for headlight. The previous owner said he never new it was there.

    Wouldn't it be sweet if it was a kill switch in the off position and, well, it fires right up!!

    Definitely not stock.

    What's it for? Follow the wires.

      I think those are to turn off the electric clocks in the dash so as to not drain the batt.

        The PO put two hidden toggles on one of my bikes, one for the headlight, and one for the ignition. It is really poorly executed in my case. Low quality non weather proof switches, tiny cheap wire, crummy splices. It can be fixed, but a good used harness has been procured, and I intend to change it out.

          It is stock..it turns the clock on and off..in case the bike is gonna be instorage or unridden for a while. Its so the battery doesnt wear down.

              Looks like I learned something else tonight.

              I did not know that a clock was a standard feature, let alone a switch to turn it off.

                  The hole in the plastic instrument surround, on the right hand side of the tach, can also be used to mount that clock switch. One of the Aussi members said that.
