    Turn signal removal 1981 GS850

I plan on swapping my turn signals on my 81 GS850G, how do I go about removing them? I tried to wrench the nut holding them on but the signal light plastic neck itself began to turn as well, I held it firmly but I thought it might break. So I stopped, the nuts are on very snug, any ideas?? Thanks.

If you put your wrench on the nut side, the whole assembly will turn itself out.

Disconnect the wires, hold the signal, turn the nut.

Soak the threads with your favorite rust busting penetrating oil over-night.

I soaked the threads, and got them to come loose, probably could have without soaking, but I was being a pussy, not wanting to break the light stems themselves as they are plastic...so far so good. They are off. Thanks for the tips.
