82 GS750E, this is what the end of the wiring harness from the right switch box looks like in the head light bucket, two orange/white and one green/yellow
This is the end of a replacement switch assembly that I bought from I believe a GS850 (now that I have looked up other schematics, one of the orange wires is solid orange, other two the same.
I simply spliced them just outside of the new (to me) right switch box,
Either way I splice the two orange wires it will not turn over. The reason I am using the entire new (to me) assembly is that the kill switch unit inside the assembly is different. I am wondering if they changed the wiring around between the two models.
Backup a few weeks, I broke the kill switch in my original switch assembly and just spliced the two orange wires together and it would start.
It was not until I tried to replace the switch assembly with this new(to me) unit that it wall not fire.
I "think" it has something to do with the starter disconnect that the green/yellow wire goes to at the clutch lever. Did all bikes have the disconnect where you have to pull in clutch lever to engage starter motor?
Anyone made a change in right switch assemblies and overcame a similar problem? I am gonna look for a GS1000 schematic to try and figure out what I need to do but in the meantime any advice would be much appreciated.
TIA for any help, I am not an electrician and learning as I go.
