Which Eurosport regulator do I need ?

Which Eurosport regulator do I need ?
1983 GS750E. I am a little confused by the wording on the web site. Is anybody familiar with these regulators on this bike ? One of the following two I think ?

I wouldn't use either of those.
There is a long thread by Matchless where he details which bikes came with the more desirable OE R/R units. The FET ones are best in this regards. You can find used ones off ebay for less than those lower quality units.

Checked out both links you sent me and they don't ship to us foreigners. What is wrong with Eurosport ? They what are recommended in the Stator papers.Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time1983 GS 750

Hi,
Get a good part for your bike. You'll find a copy of Matchless' list of compatible r/r units in the electrical section of my little website.
The Electrosport r/r units are very similar to the underperforming original units. Buy a good used Shindengen unit from a reputable Ebay seller.
Electrosport used to sponsor this site but is no longer.

So you guys are saying the only reason they were recommended was because they were sponsors ? Or possibly not recommended because they are not sponsors anymore ? Do you know people who have had bad experiences with these regulators ? I have looked at Matchless list. What I really want is a good quality part, that is plug and play. Chinese manufacture has come along way in quality control and they do make some fine products. I am unwilling to write them off unless somebody { more than one } has had bad experiences with them. Is the following statement a lie ?

By Peter HuppertzFor years on end, I have been moaning about the Stator problems associated with the Suzuki GS's. For two years I've been shouting about a good replacement rectifier/regulator unit available in Europe, and NOT in the US.
(with modifications by the current editors)
But lo and behold! it's official! the superior ElectroSport Industries unit is now available in the US as well! Read on...
The improved regulator/rectifier is manufactured specifically by ElectroSport Industries.
The ElectroSport Industries units are redesigned to fix the problems found with the stock units. The prices for their units are considerable less than the price for Suzuki replacements.

Just checked out Compufire's website and read the link you sent. Sounds great. I just can't figure out which one I need for my 83 gs750e. And will it fit without making an adapter ?Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time1983 GS 750

None of these units we are recommending are "plug and play" for that bike. The '83 R/R has somewhat unusual electrical connectors, which while easily adapted, it's not just a plug-in affair. And speaking of that, you shouldn't be looking for "plug and play". The factory wiring should be improved by wiring the stator direct to the R/R anyway as detailed in countless threads here on the site. If you want the charging system to be durable then more work needs to be done so you may as well get a Shindengen or Compufire and do the job right.Ed

Consider cutting the plug off the dead one and soldering it on to the new R/R. i did that to put a Honda R/R on an '82. No biggy. In retrospect, I probably should have eliminated the plug and hard wired/ soldered/shrinked the wiring directly I supose, but it is still working for the new owner for the last few years.

I had already connected the stator wires directly to the stock R/R.Was going to cut them and put new spades on.Looked in the stock connector,spades in there.cut them out of there and plug them in.Worked for me.

I just installed my own blade connectors and wired in my replacement r/r unit.
Regulator/Rectifier Replacement
This is a guide from Mr. duaneage himself, showing us how to wire a Honda r/r unit to be "plug-n-play".
Modifying a Honda R/R for GS Use
CLICK HERE and look at the bottom of the page for a list of compatible FET regulator/rectifiers for the GS bikes.(Thanks Matchless!)
Buy an Electrosport unit if you want. You'll be buying another soon.
