Torque Spec
So I'm installing a new mechanical advance on my 79 GS550 E, but I don't know what to torque the bolt to that holds the mechanical advance on. Does anyone have access to that information?Tags: None

Check the service book, there should be a list of all torque specs there. You should be able to find the service manual at basscliffs site. I never had to replace it so I do not no the spec by memory. Try looking here http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/Last edited by Guest; 06-25-2011, 08:40 PM.

Proper torque is "snug" (or look in the service manual as stated). You guys wrenching without a manual are a strange lot.Ed
To measure is to know.

Excellent, that online access to the service manual is exactly what I was looking for. Though I have a dirtied clymer, eyeballing and guessing at torque specs, especially on critical parts, is not an approach I'll run with. Thanks for the rec, this site is a never fail!
