    Cigarette Lighter Question

If I wire a cigarette lighter socket into the AUX screws in the fuse box will the socket constantly pull juice from the battery? Or, will it drain energy only when an accessory is plugged in?

    Thanks!

Some accessories drain the battery even if they are switched off, make sure you unplug.

Look at your schematic to confirm but; Aux is fused but not switched

If you want it to be switched power, it is easy to do with a relay...

Either use the brown wire in the headlight bucket or a relay as Batman* suggested.
            I'd go with a relay.
I need to do this since my air pump is powered my a cig lighter and I sold my car!

              Thanks for all the replies.

Do you mean unplug the accessory or the cigarette lighter? I'm sorry guys, I'm totally clueless about wiring-type things.

Think of the socket as one you'll have in the wall at home. When there is nothing plugged in you aren't using any electricity. When you have something plugged in and switched on you will be adding to greenhouse gases (shame on you......). If you have something plugged in but not switched on you may be saving the whale or you may be sending us all to armageddon depending on the device.
