    79 gs750 problem at 80mph

    hello, i have recently bought a 79 gs750. its a cracker but for some reason will not rev up right, its mint up to 80mph then its as if its restricted, sevealy stumped, any heads up would be grand, cheers chaps.

    A few things worth the checking but bear in mind I have a 1980 GS1000ET;
    Air filter clogged.
    Ignition timing.
    If it has CV carbs make sure the airfilter box is standard and not been 'opened up', if not CV's forget it.
    Vapor lock in petrol tank, try running it with the fuel cap off (Not with a full tank of coarse) and see if it improves.
    Try taking off the petrol pipe and make sure you get a good flow into a jar etc to make sure their is no fuel starvation, blocked petcock filter, kinked pipe etc
    Are all exhaust headers getting hot, make sure its not just running on 3.
    Check spark plugs for colour, this gives an indication what might be going on.

    Im sure guys with the 750's will give ya more pointers.

      Condensers for the points have gone South perhaps?
      Replace the points and condensers and report back.
