    Now I've done it

When I set the ignition timing on my '77 GS750 with a timing light I can get the F marks to line up at idle but the advance mark doesn't quite line up when I rev it.

So I took the points plate off to look at the mechanical advance. Everything seems to move freely. The weights move out until they hit the 2 post that are there to limit their travel. So I tried to bend the posts out slightly.

One of the posts broke off. Now I have to replace the mechanical advance unit...if I can find one. Could that post be brazed or welded back on? Does anyone have a mechanical advance unit they want to sell?

Oh, me bad! A Suzuki Advance Governor Assembly.
Be careful, I think there might be two different manufacturers, this I can tell you, they're no longer available new from Suzuki, I just checked, perhaps you can find one here! Have Fun!

              Costly?

Look again, there are SEVEN of them that are $30 or less, including shipping.
