Trying to get into the Pilot Box on my 82 gs850gl. I'm going to start diagnosing my failed meter lights and replace the 5th gear bulb. Can't get the top screw to back out. It's turning, but nothing. Any one know a trick without drilling it out or braking the cover?

If it's just turning then it isn't attached.
Look for another fastener you may have missed.

Can you fit a dental pick or small screwdriver under the lip of the screw?
If so apply little bit of pressure, and back the screw out slowly
