I have a gs550l that acts like it has a rev limiter on it when I hit 4000 rpms. At first I was considering replacing just coils wires and plugs (all plugs are black cyls 3 and 4 are blowing fuel straight out and are wet when I stop running and step over the puddle of fuel now in my driveway)...
carbs were completely rebuilt, so I'm ruling them out, as the 4000rpm issue was the reason I sent them out for rebuild, although they look and work great now, the bike is still struggling. Even tried the choke trick to see if the issue was in the carbs running rich, but no difference still runs like its flooding out.
When I saw I could replace the entire ignition for a few bucks more I was intrigued, since I read the signal generator could be part of the problem...
Anyway, two questions;
1. how do I tell how many ohms my stock coils are? I puled one off Yesterday and all I see stamped on it is 33312v so am i to assume they are 3 ohm coils?
2. The above mentioned kit, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them? Can they be bolted on with no additional configuration, or is there timing and settings needed to get this running.... my experience is limited when it comes to timing and fine tuning...
Thanks in advance
Glenn
