Best place to buy a battery

I am getting close to taking my inagural first ride on my 81 gs 1100 and the last part of the rebuild is a battery. Should I just go to walmart to get one or is there a better option thanks.

Batteries Plus is a great place to get a reasonably priced sealed battery...

I HATE standard flooded cell batteries. If you tip the bike, they leak, etc, etc.

The sealed batteries work so much better.

      Motobatt

a rare outsider and was only built until 1983. Who still has one, it gives her so little.

Don't buy from Wal-mart! Junk! and only 30 day warranty. Went through two in no time and nothing wrong with bike charging system. terrylee

You mean the level sensor as some of the GSes were factory-equipped? I don't think any battery sold today is compatible with that. Remove the bulb from your gauge cluster

If you want to retain the stock sensor, the batteries for those are expensive. I got a Parts Unlimited battery about 5 years ago and it came with a new sensor that screws into one of the fill caps instead of the original push in type. I'm pretty sure I got it off ebay for around $50-$75. It did not come with the acid, but I was able to get that at my local auto parts store for about $10.

                    Wal-mart batteries for me.
Just swap 'em out once a year, $40, bleh I'll spend it.
Then just throw the old ones up in the roof, to power my winch or lawn-mower.
I find uses for them all.

My walmart battery is dying ... I suspect this is its last season.

But, it did last 5 years, and I was pretty lax on the maintenance ...
only topped the fluids up 2 times (should really do it at least once a year),
did not really keep it charged over the winters consistently ...

I can't complain ... when it gives up the ghost I'll happily buy another there.

Me two! got one delivered for $63 -AGM fully charged- walmart in my area wants $50 for do-it-yourself filler. Batteries should last 3 years at least, if they are not tortured by charging system and kept trickled in off season- six months for me.
