I have a 1980 GS750. Can you tell me where the stator is located?

To put it in plain language, it's inside the cover on the left end of the crankshaft.....

I typed this, then erased it.

The question is so basic that I figured one of those "teach a man to fish" answers is most appropriate.

hmmm... maybe it is wiser to teach them what a fish is before you teach them how to fish. Otherwise we may end up with a bunch of birds and cats caught up on fishing line. Think about how that would read in the papers

Can tell you where it is. ANd others already have.

But for any testing / troubleshooting you dont really need access directly to it. WHat you need access to is the wires comming from it.

So if you were to ask, "How do I find the wires from the stator?" THe answer could be, "they would be the wires plugged into the wires from the R/R".
                    ha ha ha
A better answer would be: Look for cable comming from under the starter motor cover (the starter cover, not stator cover), the cable should go towards back of transmission and then up and under the left side cover. Will have 3 wires. (if its a replacement stator it will most likley be 3 yellow wires). May go into a rubber boot that is covering those connetions to the R/R (about 81 or prior), or may go to a multi prong connector (about 82 and later).

Tell us what you find. And what you are trying to do.

                    .
