    timing 81 gs 750

    having trouble setting timing for 81 gs 750, i cant seem to get the breaker plate far enough over to geet the timing spot on? what im i doing wrong? thnaks steve

    I was unaware the timing was adjustable on that bike. How are you testing the timing and how far off does it seem to be?

      im using i timing light, its about 3/16'' off the mark(advanced), i can move the breaker plate to get it closer but i run out of room.

          you mean open up the slots a little so i can move it over more? will this affect anything else?

            You sure of the year model? I have a 80 GS750E and the timing is preset with no adjustment.

            1980 GS 750E Bought new in Feb of 1980
            2015 CAN AM RTS


            Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.
