Although aftermarket parts are available, I prefer to use OEM parts for this. Check the list of OEM parts suppliers from BassCliff's MegaWelcome.

I wouldn't use "chain oil", I would just use motor-oil like the manual specifies.
But I guess it depends which kind of chain you have?

Yet another example of why the manual is not correct for everything. The best lube is either chain wax (~$15) or DuPont Teflon Multi-Use Dry, Wax Lubricant from Lowes (~$8). Guess which one I use?

The hole is about a pinsize. I think it may be hard finding another gas tank for it. I wouldn't mind modifying it to a cafe racer style either... No experience with that either though.1981 gs650L

Yes. The previous owner took off the choke button. Nothing is attached to the choke.
I still have the air filter element. I cleaned it yesterday. I have not checked to see if its saturated though.
I was thinking the whole time maybe the petcock is bad. It looks in bad shape. I can't find one online either for my specific bike. But if I win this 650G tank I may need to buy a new one.

Now that you have tank off, do you see the remnants of a choke lever dohickey- would be right next to throttle cable attachment at carbs?

Not according to the parts fiche. Go to http://www.gssuzuki.com/fiche_select...les&mfg=Suzuki, enter your bike year and model, and have a look see. You'll get all the part numbers you'll need.
Just remember you'll want the engine side for sure and possibly the air box side. You'll find the engine side under the cylinder head sectionCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

The parts list for the intake side doesn't show the number 11 boot. I assume I need numbers 9-13 on the diagram. Hard to read these.
The engine side are expensive! $117 on the Z1 site.
