GS1000 Reg/Rec
Hi all I have a GS1000 with an L model wiring loom, the loom should have a seperate regulator rectifier according to the wiring diagram, however my bike only has a combined unit, how do I wire a single unit into the wiring loom, my unit has one red and one black wire coming from it. Many thanks WayneTags: None

The R/R should bypass the factory wiring otherwise you will have problems. Route stator wires directly into R/R, make sure the R/R is well grounded, and feed the power output straight into the fuse block or to the batter with a fuse in-line. Using the factory wiring is almost sure to cause problems due to the crappy head lamp stator wire loop (check the archives if you don't know what I 'm talking about).Ed

Hi,
There's a wiring diagram on the electrical page of my little website. If your r/r unit does not have a "sense" wire, disregard that connection. Read the Stator Papers for more background and information. If you connect the r/r output directly to the battery, be sure to install an inline fuse. I use a 15 amp mini blade fuse.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

Here's apicture of the two wires that come out of my combined reg/rec, I'll see if I can work out how to wire it into the bike.
