gsxr 750 rectifier

i got a gsxr rectifier from a freind...for a 01-02 year

its a 5 wire with colors(left to right looking from bottom)

..black/red stripe
black
black with white stripe
black

then spaced away from the other 4 another black one...

bikecliff said yellow wires?

im all confused now lol

can anyone give me a quick explination

Hi,

To be sure, you'll have to find a diagram for the bike it came from, or a part number, or pinout. Otherwise if I were guessing I'd say the blk/red is the positive output, the blk/wt is ground, and the three plain black wires connect to the stator. BUT that is just a guess. Why not spend a few bucks and get a known good part?

Have you read the Stator Papers?

Jump on google and search for "01 gsxr rectifier" or something, then click on "images" up top.
Hopefully you'll get a bunch of pictures of the schematics.

Or join a gixxer forum and see if they have some free PDFs for download on that bike.
Or just "Ask" them! lol

ok so after searching for a good while i found what i need

3 black wires go to stator...blk/r go to 12v....blk/wht to ground

2 last questions...do i put the 12v to constant or switched...or is there a constant on these ol gs bikes...

also does it matter which black wire go where on my stator wires (i think i read it dont matter but wanna make sure)

Hi,

Your r/r unit does not have a "sense" wire. Yours has only 5 wires, right?

The 12v wire is the output and connects to the positive terminal of the battery usually through a 15 amp fuse in the fusebox. Is the harness connection still there? Have a look at the r/r replacement guide on my website and look in the electrical section for a r/r wiring diagram. Disregard the sense wire connection. You could connect the 12v output directly to the positive battery terminal but you must wire in an inline fuse.

The ground wire should connect directly to the negative terminal of the battery.

The connections to the stator can be in any order.

ok one last question...i got all the wires figured out but 2...

one the stock r/r there is a white with red stripe wire that goes into the wiring harness..

on the stator there is a white with green stripe going into the harness...

these wires are factory colored for my 81 gs850

now with this gsxr r/r do i run the to wires togeather? or connect them like they were from the factory that goes into the harness?

basically 2 or the 3 wires go right to the stator and r/r except this one..couse the 12v and ground is good already

gs850cafe, DO NOT follow the factory wiring. Read the links BassCliff provided and you will understand. Again, do not follow the original wiring, it was flawed from the factory and you should rectify (double entendre intended) their errors.

This is for a 6 wire r/r unit.

If you have a 5 wire r/r unit, disregard the "sense" wire connection to the brake light.
