What you will be looking for is an "open" circuit. It could be a disconnected wire, a high resistance connection, a bad switch, or a bad ground connection.
Here is a 650G service manual with a wiring diagram on the last page in Chapter 7. Also there are some "limited" troubleshooting procedures in it.
Big File, 133MB. You'll see that "yellow/green" wire going from one side of the starter button, through the clutch safety switch all the way to your starter relay. The other side goes to a 10Amp fuse. Be sure to check all your fuses, as the ignition switch uses a 15 amp fuse.

OK, since you now have the diagram and I am getting tired of pointing out the solution again, I will only add that the clutch "safety" switch is in series with the "button". If the clutch switch is bad and the connection is not bypassed as previously DETAILED, the button will not have a chance of working. Of course, the starter button itself could be bad, but you will find that sooner or later.
I'm outta here.

Apparently you guys are mistaking me for some newb and/or young kid who knows nothing. And tho I am a newb to this forum, I am not a new to life or bikes for that matter! I am very knowledgable and having the wiring diagram is all I need to get this thing figured out, which I will.

By the way, the entire starter circuit takes less than an hour to repair, for those who listen to the troubleshooting help they are given.
