    Electrical load / stators / rectifiers and longevity

    I have been reading a bit on here and elsewhere about stator problems, rectifier problems and the like. Which got me to thinking about the RR and heat issues.......

    Last year I put a set of 55W fog lights on my GR650 (the black sheep of the Suzuki line) and wired them into a DPDT switch so that I could choose parallel or series circuits (saw this on a Honda cruiser forum). Ran them in series mode as running lights for most of the year. With the headlight on all the time and the running lights, I never had to charge the battery and never had any issues with starting.

    So back to my original point...if you add the right amount of electrical load to the bike's charging system, shouldn't you avoid the issues of excess current (heat) dissipation in the RR /stator and thereby prolong the life of these components?

    Yes........But power output is rpm dependent so you would need to adjust for that somehow depending on howuch you want the load to vary. Putting a static load on at 3000 rpm and above would eork
