    Stator / Regulator Question

Ordered a stator and regulator from my local shop and got them in this week. Am I missing something? Is this the right regulator? Doesn't seem like I have a connector that matches up with the regulator.

    Rick's Motorsports stator and regulator:

Also the wires on the stator are all black. How do I know which ones to hook up where? Does that matter?

Stator wires can be hooked up in any order

Looks like that R/R is designed to hook back into the factory harness, which is BAD. I'd snip off the plug and wire the stator directly into the R/R.

Yeah and the thing is that my old stator did plug directly into the rectifier. I don't have a plug like this on my harness.

I think I may have fallen victim once again to the 82 switchover that Suzuki did on the 850's. Mine is an early 82.

Just for kicks I went to the RMS site and looked up the reg for the 81 model. Looks like that's what I needed.

It looks like the same wires though, just the plug that is different. Think I will just get some different connectors and clip the wires.

          Stator regulator rectifier connectors

Yep, looks like you have factory style connectors form different years. They will work together fine though. Like Nessism stated you could just snip the ends off and solder or crimp and heat shrink some good ends on.

The Three black wires off the stator are interchangeable and go to the yellow and two white with tracer wires on the R/R

          Good Luck!

There's an important point that's being missed here...

You're far better off to cut off those craptastic connectors and either solder or use QUALITY spade connectors crimped with a QUALITY ratcheting crimper.

If you keep factory style connectors you can expect to repeat your charging problems over and over and over and over...
