    funky wiring

So I took off my headlight to paint it and decided the gauge could use paint as well. I took off the front indicator lights to later be replaced. I hooked all the wires back to toghther what I beleive is the correct way, there is only 4 or 5 plugs. When hooked back up the instrument cluster doesn't show what gear it's in,and the horn doesn't work! I figured the signal lights not being hooked up was the reason to I hooked them up only to find they didnt work either. Checked the fuse and of course it was blown.

Question: would the signal lights not being hooked up affect the operation o the instrument cluster? The horn?

I believe those are all on the same circuit. Have you looked over your wiring diagram to verify it though?

I would assume that you inadvertently blue the fuse while you were working on it. I would check all the wiring to make sure there isn't any hot wires exposed to short out. This old insulation can crack and flake off exposing wire if it has gotten overheated. As to your specific question, the turn signals not being hooked up would not affect anything. The fuse that was blown may feed everything that was not working and it just seemed that they were the culprit.
