    GS425 advance governor wear

I took the right side engine cover off this afternoon to replace the crank oil seal and replace the cover gasket and hopefully fix a couple of leaks. When I inspected the the advance governor, I could see that the "shoes" that ride against the crank shaft are pretty worn. Doesn't look like these can be purchased separately, you have to buy the whole governor assembly.

Is this kind of wear a concern? Thanks.

You're right, you need to buy the whole assembly unless you can find one in a wrecker or something.

I'd simply get a timing light and see if it advances/retards correctly, as long as it does that then all is good. Just make sure to give it a good clean and lube while you have it out.

I cleaned it all up with kerosene, gave it a good wipe down, then lubed with engine oil.
