    Lots done today.

Finaly got the electrical system back together! The new R/R, R/R cooling fan, and stator are installed. Also replaced the main ground wire, and added another from the battery box to the engine case. The cooling fan is from an old computer, I figured that since most computer fans run on 12v dc, what the heck. Zip tied the fan case to the R/R, and wired power from the headlight fuse so that it only runs when the key is on. I imagine it may not survive wet conditions, but then I do not ride in the rain much.

    I Wanna ride!

Did you make sure the fan is pulling air away from the RR not blowing towards it, common mistake sometimes, people think I'm blowing cool air on it, but actually you want to pull the hotter air away allowing the fins to disipate the heat, I'm thinking about doing the same as I have a lot of extra fans from some of the systems I've built, but I'm going to try and mount it pependicular and in front of the RR, so it blows the air rearward across the fins to help disipate the heat from the fins.....or just ride faster

I think the fan is a waste of time- you're probably just blowing 250 degree engine air at the R/R, especially if you were stuck in traffic. I can see a bigger heatsink as some help, but why not just get a well designed R/R and worry about something else.

I got a good RR, a newer cbr1000rr one, but in the hot summer days, it can't hurt, and I'm not worried about it, just a precautionary add on. and RR is nowhere near the engine.

Adding the fan was a "WHAT THE HECK" moment. Not really needed, but I had it laying about, and it was a quick install since I had everything out on the bench.

Just did a few charging tests with the bike all back together. Everything looks to be good. It's nice to have my bike ready to ride again.

Did you wire the stator wires directly into the R/R, bypassing the existing harness? If not, you might want to consider that to avoid future problems related to harness resistance issues.

Ya, did that. One of the first mods from way back when I first started having charging issues. This time I soldered everything in while leaving enough wire for possible future repairs too. I tend to repair and improve rather than just fixing.
