can anyone help me out?? gs1100 wiring harness

i just bought a 1982 gs1100 that has been touched by quite a few hands, now i have a prob where the speedo cluster and all the connectors in the headlight are different, does anyone know what the connections for a G model are?? i think i have a cluster from a model E. the worst part of the whole thing is i don't know what model my bike is, they say the vin is invalid. im in need of a lot of help haha anyone have any helping hints or pictures??
    thanks a ton

Is your bike CHAIN drive or SHAFT drive?

              A chain-driven bike will be an E, the shaft-driven one will be a G or a GL.

Pictures of the rest of the bike, preferrable from the side, would be a great help.

Judging by the headlight bucket, it's not an L, so it's worth fixing.

Life is too short to ride an L.

While we are waiting on BF to respond we might as well visit.....

So TK and Eric, if you had to make a cross country ride and were only given the choice of an "L" or this lovely steampunk electric scooter (The Whirlygig Emoto):

                      Which would you choose?

If you de-bump the seat a little more, they'd choose the steampunk
