    No running lights?

I got a used light switch from a member on here and after I installed it there is now no running lights. I have blinkers but no headlight or rear light.

      It had running lights before?
Was it a plug and play or did you have to modify it?

Same here my '82 only has a tail light and head light for "running" or "driving"

His sig. shows an 81. Canadian models had the headlight and taillight come on when the key is on, ergo running lites.

Sorry been working on her. I guess it was a fuse couldn't really see that one was busted but all signs were pointing that way so since I don't know how old any of the fuses are I went ahead and replaced them all. And kaboom I had light. To answer everyone debate I have a 81 850G and when I turn the key the light automatically come on. No way to turn them off.

All of my 1981's and 1982's had running lights in front. The rectangular turn signals on '81 and newer 850, 1000, and 1100G's have dual filament lights in the front which are wired into the headlight circuit.

This bike sounds like it isn't a running light problem, it is a headlight and tail light issue. I would unplug look at the wiring and test to see where the power problem is.

follow out the wiring that is supposed to make the headlight and tail light work, and see where it goes dead.
