Uncle Mike's BIKE Dead on Chicago Expressway - Coil question

Re-post, the first title apparently shocked some people.

Mike's bike is dead on a Chicago expressway. He suspects a bad coil. Baatfam and I are headed that way with coils, battery, and tools. GBW is on standby with truck and ramp.

Question was whether '82 Kat coils will work on Mike's 1150 (not sure of year.). We think they'll work.

    Thanks,
    Joe

The coils will function as long as you can connect them into the harness properly. I'm not sure of the connectors are the same though.

We're bringing wire, connectors, etc. so hopefully we'll be able to make it work.

        Thanks,

Just out of curiosity, what did the original post say? Uncle Mike's hookers dead on the Chicago Expressway?

I spoke to Joe and he is bringing all the correct stuff. It's not like it is his first road side (or motel side) repair. I just hope the pre-selected repair location (wherever the heck he rolled to a stop) is safe.

I just thought that Krusty came back.

Please do not post anything like that original title again.

Well, the word BIKE was not yet present.

OK, well I got the same pang even after it was reworded. Read it twice before I figured out it was the bike that was dead.

Not ruling out coils, but I'd suspect an ignitor before coils if it's truly an ignition issue.....The odds of both coils dying at the same time have to be pretty substantial. Assuming of course by dead you mean completely dead....

I agree in principle, but I don't know any details so I can't really comment. If it is the coils I would suspect one only. That is why my GS now wears Dyna Coils, one went out. Wasn't all that much fun with only two cylinders.
Thank goodness they have a trailer on standby.
Hopefully Joe will update the thread to let us know how it went.

Nope they sure don't go very quick with one coil working. Hahaha

I think it was about the Earth being invaded by giant frogs and they had taken him hostage.

                              Any updates yet?
