What does an RR actually do?

"The main objective on a motorcycle is to make the R/R terminal voltage (between R/R+ and -) be as close to the battery terminal voltage+/- as possible. This is because the R/R needs to know what the battery voltage is in order to control that value."

The RR powers a motorcycle, that's its primary purpose. The battery is just another device on the motorcycle, it starts the bike, that's its primary purpose. The RR doesn't give a hoot what the battery voltage is because the battery does not control the RR output. The battery takes the 13 or 14 volts from the RR and that creates the reaction needed to recharge it. Really not complicated. The headlight, coils, and turn signals all draw more power than the battery does, unless you have a really low battery. And that's a different issue.

"You will probably have to read more about electricity to understand the details of a single point ground. Alot of electrical engineers don't actually understand what it is."

Can't argue with that last point.
