    H4 headlight conversion tread

My low beam blew out. So I went to the Suzi dealer and was told it had to be ordered. $54. So I start looking at other options. I found a solution. I bought a pair of 7" round H4 conversion housings W/ H4 bulbs for $30 shipped off Ebay. A couple pieces of foam, tweaking a tab here and there. And ta da. H4 goodness and I managed to retain my little light visor.

I will post up some night time pics later.

It is a pair so if you and a buddy wanted to split the cost. Or if you want a spare. Oh they also have a bulb in the bottom to set up as a running light.

Looks nice. I just replaced the original sealed-beam on my 550 with the Bosch H4 lamp from Candlepower. It's a giant improvement over stock, for less than $54.

Do you have a thread with pics of your Bosch install? I'd be interested in a side by side comparison of the two different types.

          Cool. I like the blackout.

Now for my now-standard recommendation for headlights:
and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"

And of course, Mr. Barr is correct about the best way to wire up the headlight to maximize light output, regardless of the method used. It's useful for HID as well, since the initial ignition of the lamp momentarily draws a large amount of power.

I'll try to get a pic of my headlight over the weekend.

I tend not to show the rest of it since most on this forum are purists. But here goes.

I like to mod things. Subtle changes make a huge impact on appearance.

I can do a full write up with pics. If you guys want. It is very simple.

Night time pic. I will get some road pics up soon.

Nice light cast for night and raining. Rain and wet ground usually defuses light

You need to do something about those fork tubes...far too much bling

Add some fork gaiters and you'll be 100% stealth.

I have to adjust the valves. so as I work on the bike more of it will be Silver. Most like the monochromatic look though.

Back in the day, it was common UJM practice to replace the stock sealed beam with a European H4 halogen unit. At the time (the Carter administration), such innovation was expressly prohibited by the NHTSA of Joan Claybrook and Clarence Ditlow (both of whom are still around and still vocal), which was wedded to the 1940s sealed beam design. This was the 5 mph bumper and seatbelt interlock era.

Remember when streamlined headlights were not permitted in cars in the US?

I liked my H4 light so much that, when I traded my first GS for a bike with a rectangular headlamp, I kept the light, bought another one and used them both in my Golf GTI.
