    Coil testing '79 gs425

    Hi Guys:

I've got the coils off my buddies '79 gs425 and have had trouble finding the testing values to assess them. any body have these values somewhere?
Besides the Proimary leads, the connections consist of one orange and white wire, and one all white wire.

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

On the primary side, 3 to 5 ohms. On the secondary side, 30,000 to 50,000 ohms. I think there's a manual for your bike on my little website.

In case you missed it the first time....

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'.

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

If there's anything you'd like to know about the Suzuki GS model bikes, and most others actually, you've come to the right place. There's a lot of knowledge and experience here in the community. Come on in and let me say "HOoooowwwDY!"....

Here is your very own magical, mystical, mythical, mind-expanding "mega-welcome". Please take notice of the "Top 10 Common Issues", "Top 15 Tips For GS Happiness", the Carb Cleanup Series, and the Stator Papers. All of these tasks must be addressed in order to have a safe, reliable machine. This is what NOT to do: Top 10 Newbie Mistakes. Now let me roll out the welcome mat for you...

Please click here for your mega-welcome, chock full of tips, suggestions, links to vendors, and other information. Then feel free to visit my little BikeCliff website where I've been collecting the wisdom of this generous community. Don't forget, we like pictures! Not you, your bike!

Thanks for joining us. Keep us informed. I will put you on my prayer list.

      Coil test post

Somewhere, I did miss it the first time and I have to say Basscliff, You are THE MAN!! Awesome reply and a wealth of info. I've posted many times over the years regarding my '82 GS1100E which I bought in '99 with 4000K for $2850.00 and now shows 65,000K+ without any major problems. As a result of this site, I purchased an electrex regulator/Rectifier (still the original Stator), and have fixed several other problems. This 1100E is my favorite bike ever!! Thanks for your unbelievable reply and all your help, Really!! Be well, ride safe
