    It's possible, but the signal that pulses your tach is the same that comes from your igniter and triggers one of your coils to fire. If your bike is running fine I doubt this is the issue, but you could always trace back the signal wire and make sure any connections are solid and the wire looks good. You could probably even run a wire from your tach to either your igniter or a coil as a test, but you should probably double check out your wiring diagram just to be sure...
