R/R issue: Compufire, ElectroSport, Ebay, or Other?

Used Shingren

Was having issues with my 450 gad, factory reg getting very hot and bike not charging. Checked the charging system and the reg was shot. Picked up a Shingren reg from a 79 honda cx 500 for $33 delivered on ebay. Installed it after a little rewiring from Duaneage's tutorial and it works great. So, a used Shingren was the way to go and the price was inexpensive just a little labor of wiring and install. Bmac

I just ordered up a slightly used 2011 Polaris RZR800 r/r, a Shindengen SH775 35 amp "series style (disconnects voltage path/load to regulate) regulator/rectifier, far better than most, which are "shunt" style (shorts excessive voltage direct to ground to regulate). Like the aftermarket Compufire or the CE-601/602/603/606 etc (both are the only other 3 phase series style r/r's that are known of on this forum), but much more affordable and at least as reliable.

Aside from the 3 offerings for a series style r/r, I would say a good quality Honda unit WITH the extra voltage sensing wire, or else a Shindengen shunt type MOSFET R/R would be my top picks. Just about ANYTHING you could choose is better than the OEM suzuki stator-fryers!

I'm pretty happy with my used Shindengen unit, so far, but I admit that I've not had it long enough to be a good judge, but it's known to work by many here on GSR so that what what I went with.
