Hey guys! So I have a 1980 Gs550e project and am having a battery issue. I was looking for a battery and am having trouble finding one the right size anywhere but online. So I am going to order one online that fits. But in the meantime I was thinking any new battery would be a good start so I could start chasing down and figuring out electrical issues while I wait for the right size to come in the mail. So I brought home a regular motorcycle battery from work(Walmart) it just doesn't fit in the battery box. I fully charged the battery and hooked it up and all it does is illuminate the oil pressure light and neutral light. No other lights work or turn on. Headlight or anything. I am really hoping I am just missing a step or not doing it right, because I would hate to add more problems to the list! So please any advice or tips or any input would be greatly appreciated! It's a project, so you got to check all connections- but first make sure you connect battery terminals correctly- the negative terminal has cable that grounds out on engine, The positive terminal connects to stud on starter solenoid. Head to Basscliff's for wiring diagram- if he doesn't have a 550 layout, the 650 one will offer clues.1981 gs650L
