1981 GS1100E with Dyna 2000 KIT - Need advice with the crank trigger adjustment.

    Hi

    My 1981 GS1100E has 4 pods and a 4 to1 exhaust.
The Dynatek manual mentions that a stock compression engen should have the crank trigger set between 35 and 40 degrees.

    I have it at 37.5.

Does any one have experience with this setup and if there is a better choice for a degree?
What would be the results between 35 and 40 degrees.

    Thank you.

Does it pink (or ping or knock or "diesel) depending on what terminology is used out your way...?

If it does then reduce it a bit & if not then increase it till it does then back it off.

You'll want to be under load, in your warmest temperatures with your worst fuel for safety (i.e. low octane or old fuel, high heat & heavy load such as high gear up a steep hill all contribute to pinking).

I still have not rode her yet. I'm still adjusting and fixing some electrical issues.
But I will keep an ear on her.

      Thank you.
