1981 GS1100E with Dyna 2000 KIT - Testing coil firing order.

    Me again.

I have the dyna coils 2.2 ohm installed. I know there is a test setting on the Dyna 2000 controller. It fires both coil outlets linked to the sensor being activated at the same time.

The weird thing is if I put it to position 1 and turn the crankshaft the same thing happens.

I would have thought that only one outlet would spark at a time and in this sequence 1-3-4-2. but it does not, both coil outlet spark.

    Is this normal?

    Thank you

You saying all four plugs fire at the same time?

Both outputs on one coil will fire for a given trigger event. 1 and 4 together and 2 and 3 together. It is called wasted spark. I hope that helps

If your coils have two outlets (which is normal for these bikes), both of them will spark at the same time.

As Flatline_Racing mentioned, this is called a "wasted spark" system, because one of the cylinders will be at the top of the exhaust stroke when the plug fires.

And there is no reason to expect them to fire in the order of 1-3-4-2, when the firing order is 1-2-4-3.

Thank you for the explanations. "Wasted spark" I guess there is always something new to learn.
It was kind of late last night. Yes I wanted to write 1-2-4-3

Does it mean that both coil outlet spark at the same time and with the same intensity.
