    Just got my Danmoto Gauges

    Here's a pic of the gauges I just got today. Fast delivery from China too. Other than the plastic face looking like it could scratch easily, the quality looks ok. However, it came with no instructions on how to install the wheel speed sensor. It did come with a wiring diagram so I'm ok there.
    From what I can glean from the internet, the magnet can be attached to the front or rear rotors or the rear sprocket. Do I need to have a bracket made up for the sensor itself?

    Can anybody show me a pic of how you did it?

    I'll post more pics after I install it this weekend.

    Only if you want it to be close enough to sense the magnet.

      I haven't any experience with this device but I have installed a bicycle speedo on the 750 I had. In order to mount the reciver I had to make a small bracket from aluminum strap that bolted to the fork on the rearmost front fender bolt on the left hand side.

      For the sender, I used a small rare earth magnet that I epoxied to the wheel rim. I don't have any pictures or exact dimensions but I believe the magnet cleared the receiver by about 1/4" or slightly less.

      To calibrate it, I believe you will take the circumference of the tire and input it to the computer.

      I don't know about this model but the Catseye bicycle computer was within 10% of that measured by GPS or as I like to say, "close enough for government work".

          I just mounted one on a Bultaco - I seem to remember the magnet had to pass within 5mm of the sensor (might have been closer). I glued the magnet to the rear wheel hub and zip tied the sensor to the swinging arm.

            On my 750 I mounted the sensor on a bracket from one of the brake caliper bolts

            Looks pretty simple to do looking at that sensor (doesn't it have a thread & 2 nuts in the middle of it?) In this case you can simply use a flat plate with a hole for caliper bolt & a hole for the sensor (or make an L shaped bracket & use both caliper bolts).

            If that unit supports it... use more than one magnet, makes them more sensitive to speed changes. My Koso could use up to 6, I used 5. Obviously the unit needs to be intelligent to know that now 5 pulses of the sensor (sensor is just a reed switch triggered by the magnet) = 1 revolution not 5 revolutions.

            Also another trick... If you change the rotor bolts to Allen type you can get mini rare earth magnets (the really strong ones) & just pop them in the hole where the Allen key goes, no need for any adhesive. I saw 120mph with this setup (on a private road of course...) without any issues!

              It will work the same way as a bicycle speed so you can mount the sensors anywhere you want. You will need to input the tire circumference as this is used by the computer to compute the speed. Look up "how does a bicycle speedometer work" on Google and it will explain it.
