Did I trash my new Stator?

I just installed a stator from RMStator and it wasn't charging... I was getting continuity to chassis... and no AC volt across two of the leads... after taking the bike apart I realized that the wires were pinched against the cover and engine I could have sworn I checked that I pulled the wires out of the way because I could tell the grommet wasn't seating well..

anyways.. could this short have fried the stator or any other component?

feeling stupid.. but thanks for the help..

EDIT: how much should I pay for a honda/yamaha/upgrade R/R?

Only way I can think of to tell is to un ground the wires and test again

so basically there is a chance but only one way to find out..

I'll repair them (cuz I am sure that at least one is cut through since I didn't get voltage between two of the legs) and then test again tonight..

      Thanks.

I did this to my turnsignal wires once, it just blew a fuse immediately.

Remember, those wires get real hot, so any repair must survive and not melt.

Been busy with work so I haven't been able to do the repair yet... I was going to use metal butt connectors and cover them with heat shrink since it is going to be in the cover.. The repair will be on the side of the grommet that stays "dry"..

Your repair looks OK, but the RM stator ain't exactly a work of art- very crudely rewound. Before installing, I'd check continuity between stator leads and pole frame- stick a meter probe into a bolt hole and hope that you have no continuity.

I hadn't done the repairs yet in those pics. I should have taken a picture of the repair I did.. but basically I just put but connectors on the R/R side of the grommet. All went well today.. stator seems to be in good health.. but I need to do the R/R replacement.
