Dyna 2000 with crank trigger timing

I have a 1978 GS1000 now 1100 cc with Vance and Hines 4 into 1 and k&N pods Dyna 2000 with crank trigger timing. So when I installed this ignition I timed it for 35 deg total advance. The instructions said to time from 30 to 40 total advance. And I wasn't sure what I wanted, so I picked a spot in the middle.
So my question is : what total advance equals 0 degrees initial setting. IE 30 deg. total = 0 deg. or 10 deg. initial.

I take it as: your setting the final fully Advanced angle.

So set the crank at 35 degrees before top dead center and then rotate the trigger plate until the light just comes on and tighten the plate down.

Do the same thing for the other trigger, and adjust the sensor's position if the angle is different, only if you need to.

i run 34/35 total in 16 valve engines.
i bet your bike would really like 40 total..just food for thought.

Yes, I'm thinking that it wouldn't hurt to try 40 deg total.
I'm used to setting the initial timing. So when it came to the instructions that came with the Dyna 2000, I was a little lost. Thanks for reassuring me as to what I'n doing.

Keep it at 35 deg... At 40 you risk detonation and melted pistons
