    Digital tach on a gs550

Been looking at the danmoto digital speedo/tach http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/lcd-d...oduct-137.html and am wondering if the rpm's will read correctly. All you do is connect a wire to the coil, and that signal tells it what to read.

Basically, do the ignition coils fire once per revolution of the motor or, in my case, 4 times. The gauge doesn't seem to have any adjustment for number of cylinders....

    thanks

I can't say whether that gauge will work for you, although I have seen the name mentioned before, but I can tell you that your coils (both of them) will fire once per revolution. Depending on whether the gauge pickup is on the 12 volt side or the 30,000 volt side of the coil, you could connect to any plug lead or negative power lead of either coil, they will all "fire" the same.

I use this Dan moto one on my 80 GS1100E & love it. It works perfectly. Just hook it up as you say.

Thanks for the replies, that clears it up for me. Hey Nastyjones, do you have any pics of yours installed? There aren't a whole pile of pictures of these units on bikes. I do love analog gauges, but the "all in one" aspect of these is pretty appealing.

Has anyone ever seen an instrument cluster from a newer sport bike transplanted onto a GS?
