    tach problems

weird problem with the tach guys, it works at idle and up to 5k then it hangs there even though i'm accelerating past that mark and the jumps to way past the rev limiter when i reach about 8k. there was some cut wires thanks to mice but i repaired them all, and all the other functions in the housing work fine.

did i miss something? figured there was something fancy in the housing that i didn't add

      Hi,

Check and lube the cable. Take the gauges off and spray your favorite lube inside the cable inputs. I use a contact cleaner with silicone. WD40 will work too. If that doesn't stabilize the needle then you may have to disassemble the gauge and clean it manually.

Remove the gauge from the housing. Use a small screwdriver and good needle nose pliers to pry off the front bezel. Clean. Reassemble. Then use a punch, or similar, to bend the bezel back onto the housing.

That bell housing/magnet assembly with the watch spring gets gummed up and can cause intermittent operation.

      Thank you for your indulgence,
