    Rectifier wires

Very electrically challenged, but I am going to try to get through the stator papers in the next week or so. I have tried to do some of them and I am getting a reading of 73 on all three phases of the stator. Does this sound too low? Also, am I correct in thinking that I can connect the red/white and blue/white coming from the rectifier directly to the three stator wires and then cut back and tape the remainder of these wires? 1983 GS850G

73 AC volts across stator outputs is good - but reread the stator papers and do ALL the tests. And then do what's recommended. Bypassing any loop to lefthand switch and wiring stator direct to R/R is best. If you have the stock R/R still, consider opting for another .

Yes on stator wires direct to R/R. As for the R/R, upgrade to something better. Tons of low buck options out there. R/R gounding is critical, as is making sure your power return wires are low resistance. As mentioned by Tom, check the stator papers. Basscliff has an improved stator papers write up as modified by Posplayr. His tests are better as it relates to checking the wiring.

      Good luck
