I've there are a couple of versions. What is the best way to do this.
It makes no sense that the voltage is the same for both coils but the outside cylinders are flaky.
Info is in your Mega Welcome as provided by Cliff. Lots more info there too.

The best and cheapest way would be to clean the connections in the harness.
I use contact cleaner to remove dirt and corrosion and dielectric grease for waterproofing and corrosion protection.

I just knocked down my voltage drop to the coils from 1.5v to .15v with a simple 20 minute harness cleaning.
Also cleared up all my voltage drops across the ignition, headlight and grounds.

Can anyone offer a step by step how=to to test coils and igniter with a multimeter? The relevant article on BassCliff's page is simply Greek to me, and the manual just says "perform test. If good move on". The threads, this one included, offer vague (to a noob like me) suggestions. Above KDS111 asks if he should test across the primaries at the coil. This means next to nothing to me. What exactly should one do to test the coils. I mean what do i set my multimeter at, where EXACTLY do I connect the leads, etc. Are the primaries the spark club leads? They're hard wired into the coil. The harness to the coil? Sorry for asking...

PS. My coils are stock and original. The spark plug leads look like there's some cracking (30+ years old. Duh.) I bought new Dyna wires and NGK plug caps, but I don't see how I can replace the leads as they are sealed INTO the coil bodies with what looks like wax sealant or some other permanent stuff. Any suggestions as to how to replace lead wires would also be appreciated...
