See-through spark plug caps
Finally got around to working on my GS1100GK again. To recap, Cylinders 3 and 4 are doing most of the work, while 1 and 2 are doing very little. I don't believe it is the carbs because they were cleaned last fall. Cylinders 2 and 3 has fancy see through caps where you can see the spark. Would this detract from the intensity of the spark at the plug? I'm leaning toward an ignition problem(s) as cylinder compression is good and injecting propane into the synch port of 1 and 2 carbs does not effect idle speed.Tags: None

I would think that the connection should be very snug to the tops of the plugs and not be arching around inside any of the caps. How would one expect the plugs to be getting the right electrical flow to have a hot spark...they wont.

Put the sync bolts back in and get a can of starting fluid and give little squirts around the intake manifolds to see if there are vacuum leaks. Have a fire extinguisher always in the garage too.
The bike wont be able to get enough gas from the carbs properly with or without your tube sucking solid propane or air or any combinnation of the two. Button it up, start it, and then use the starter fluid around the seams.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
