I've got no spark on an 82 gs450

I recently bought a new gs450 (I think there is a T in there somewhere...) as a project. At first I wasn't getting it to turn over, now i fixed that but i'm not getting any spark... I kinda new at all this and would appreciate some tips.... I have a book that explains some diagnosis stuff but the wires on the chart are the wrong colors on the bike, so I'm not sure if i have the wrong harness or what..... Any tips? If you have pictures of your wiring for the igniter unit or distributor that would be great!

      Greetings and Salutations!!

      Hi Mr. brumby,

The electrical system troubleshooting tips are a good place to start. See the electrical section of my little website. But I'm sure you've got a lot of other maintenance that has to happen too. See the maintenance lists in the "mega-welcome". Skipping steps or taking shortcuts will be frustrating at best and dangerous at worst. Here's the "mega-welcome".

If you are here you probably have a 30 year old motorcycle that needs about 20 years worth of maintenance. You'll find all kinds of helpful tips, procedures, manuals, diagrams, "how-to" guides, etc, in the links below. Let's get started.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'.

        Hi Brumby, welcome!

On BassCliff's site, get the Clymer and Haynes manuals downloaded.

There are tests in there to check if your ignition is ok or faulty.
