Ignition gurus: Pickups GS1000 vs GS1100

In the process of doing my GS1000G fuel injection project, I'm running into a problem with getting a tach signal. Long story short, I want to use two pickups to send the ignition input to the Microsquirt controller. The controller needs 4 wires, two from each pickup.

My 1981 GS1000G is wired with two pickups, but they share a common ground wire, so only 2 wires exit to the ignitor. Apparently something changed in 1982, as I see the 1100G wiring shows all 4 wires go to the ignitor (as do most 4 cylinder Kawasakis with electronic ignition).

Looking at GS1100 pickups on eBay, the plate seems different as to mounting- possibly recessed. I thought the engine cases were the same?

What I need to know is if the 1100 pickups will fit onto the 1000 case? If not, I may have to adapt some Kawasaki parts into the setup.
