Bypass clutch safety
My switch on the clutch handle is not always letting the bike know its pulled in, so my starter won't always kick. I'm not a complacent idiot so the heutral green light is enough. Which wires do i need to twist together to rid myself of this.

for the sake of testing i snipped the wires halfway down the bars and twisted them together. Still not engaging. I was positive it was this switch because i did nothing but pull and release the clutch and after a few times it hard started.
Now im just confused.

which ends of the wires are you twisting together? it should be the ones in the headlight, not the ones coming from the switch1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

I honestly didn't think it would make a difference. If you connect the wires coming from the clutch lever and never unplug the connection in the bucket it should effect the same result as disconnecting in the bucket and jumping the terminals.

I twisted them on the lever side. Since the plug in the bucket has not been touched the bike should be reading that the lever is in

When you connect the two wires in the bucket, you totally eliminate the lever from equation by making the bike think the lever is ALWAYS pulled in.
The signal starts in the bike, goes through the lever (but only when it's pulled) and goes back into the bike, telling it if it is safe to start or not.

Follow me guys. I cut the wires right before the lever and joined them. Thats the same thing as joining them in the bucket.
Just for the sake of moving forward they are now joined in the bucket, starter still not engaging.

ok, well in that case then it seems like the problem was not related to the clutch switch after all. once those 2 wires are joined together that is a permanent fix and will bypass any problems that you would have had with the clutch switch.
you now need to investigate further1978 GS1085.
