I think that he would have mentioned that he had the ignition off. ;-)

Yea I have some brains guys geez LOL. I'm almost done. I added the grounds, checked all the wires from engine back, swapped out all connectors in that area and did same in headlight bucket. Hoping to fire it up soon but unlikely I will finish today

some people assume if the motor is spinning over it should start.

Bike wiring done. Noticed I had her set to prime...dammit. Had a very slight gas smell to the oil, so I just went ahead and changed it after letting the plug, filter, and spark plugs stay off a few hours. She fired right up, idle is the same as ever but shes fighting to come up from idle. Easing it to about 2000 and flooring it gets me to a "wall" at about 5k so something is amiss. After some reading i'm sure the carbs are coming off. After shutting it down I get smoke from the RH tail pipe for about three minutes, not sure if i should be concerned there.

I took video, will post it later

Sounds like it is too rich. The smoke confirms it. Time for a complete, quality carb rebuild.
                      Congrats on the wiring success.

My thought also, since I can "break through" with finesse. I have only ever idled it before, i'm not one to rev a sitting bike. My dad bought his Hayabusa new in '07 and trailored it home. He had it idleing before putting the first mile on it and his buddy walks up and twists it to i'm guessing about 6k. My dad almost decked him.

Anyway the carbs had a full service a year or two ago, paper isn't in front of me, so im guessing it won't be too bad. I hate opening carbs.

Tomorrow I'm going to do my best at a plug chop in my shop, since the plugs are new and got cleaned today. Then I will likely pull and dip the carbs and if I have time check the valves.

Carbs need a good cleaning, going to strip them shortly. The boots are soft and new as they should be but there is a tear in one I saw just before pulling them. It would appear the Suzuki mechanic damaged them putting carbs back on.

And holy cow what a tight fit getting them off.

get rid of that fuel filter, before it causes you more problems

yea it's a pile of garbage. Was there even a filter there OEM? I usually add one anyway, I like the larger clear ones.
