    Accel Super Coils?

I've been wanting to upgrade my coils for a while now. I've been doing research and have come to the conclusion that our choices are limited at best...

I have used Accel Super Coils in MANY of my automotive builds.
I have read a lot about all of you using Dyna Greens, at 3.0 ohms.
I came across these Accel coils, but not sure if they will be a good choice or not @ .7 ohms...

I know the lower the better for automotive, but these bikes are a bit more fragile that a car/truck.

Any input? Have any of you used them? Will they do any damage?

Do your self a favor and do the research on this website... That being said, and all other things being equal- the ohmic value of your new coils MUST match your original OEM coils otherwise you will burn up an already fragile ignition system. Any of the coil manufacturers make coils with different levels of resistance for just this reason. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could use the Accel coils with .7 ohms, but you would have to use a 2.3 ohm ballast resistor in series with the coil to raise the resistance back up to 3.0 ohms... kinda defeats the purpose. THAT was my main concern. Thanks for the reply...

Accel does make coils with the proper ohm rating if you want Accels.

DO NOT use .7 ohm coils They are meant for a CDI ign and will over heat. You need 3 ohm coils regardless of what brand you buy

Accel super coils, 3.0 ohms, also currently the cheapest price on the internet.

Thanks Tank. I was hoping to avoid the yellow wire thing, but some looming should cover that up well enough. Lol

cover the HT wires with heat shrink tubing like i have. protects the wires, keeps moisture off and you can have them in what ever colour you like...

Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

The dyna greens with whichever wires you want run right around $175 at Z1.

It seems to me that almost all the drag bikes, many race bikes and tons of GSers run the dyna greens instead of accels.

And while both are going to be a big improvement over stock, I would get the greens myself.

Dyna greens are just an untested brand for me. Stick with what you know, ya know? I've been using accel products for decades and have only had a few go bad on me before their time. I know there are hundreds of bikes here with them with good results. Just a preference I guess.

                      Yeah I hear ya.
I have experience with neither so my judgement would be based on the many experiences I've read on here.

My plan for my coils is to replace then with a set off a late 90's gixxer.
I've seen 2 complete sets on ebay for under $50 shipped.

I think there is some kind of rule about putting shiny new parts on a dirty ugly rat bike, lol.

Nah! It's just one step closer to a clean shiny classic muscle bike!

Will those work for me? Says they are for CDI. Just trying to be on the safe side. Don't want to cook anything.
